Eclectic clothing and textile designer Zandra Rhodes brought her signature kooky brand of British cool to the runways this season with a retrospective fashion show in Paris last night, entitled ‘Looking Back, Looking Forward.’ A sort of greatest hits of Rhodes’ career, her bright, ethnic-inspired designs evoked the freewheeling 60s and 70s, when her collections seduced la crème de la crème of swinging London and New York, with her designs selling everywhere from her own Fulham Road Clothes Shop to Henri Bendel’s. Well into her 70s and still designing, Rhodes’ exuberant aesthetic now graces products as diverse as tableware, jewelry, and fur, alongside her signature dresses and textiles.
Below, a selection of pieces seen on the runway alongside period editorial and textile prints.
