Following the Fall 2011 book release of the same name, the documentary ‘Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel‘ is set to premier September 21st, 2012 in select theatres across the U.S. Inspired by her book research, Vreeland’s granddaughter-in-law Lisa Immordino Vreeland decided her legendary subject could not be contained in mere print but deserved silver-screen-time too, and the documentary- featuring interview footage with the editor herself and current quotes by personalities ranging from Anna Sui and Diane Von Furstenberg to Calvin Klein and Anjelica Huston- captures her unprecedented eye, remarkable talent for witty maxims, and forward-thinking legacy. Moreover, it demonstrates how original she truly was- and her integral role in creating and refining the job of the Fashion Editor as we know it.
“I wasn’t a Fashion Editor, I was the One and Only Fashion Editor,” she characteristically and confidently asserts in an interview. For teaser footage, see the below trailer, and mark your calendars for the September release!
