Christel Marott: Danish Fashion Illustrator

Before there was polyvore, there were…paper dolls. And we amassed a tidy collection of them by 20th century Danish illustrator Christel [Marott] on a recent trip up north for Copenhagen fashion week. What these analogue ‘toys’ lack in technology they make up for in charm, and the adorable illustrations of 50s and 60s era fashions look refreshingly modern [and covetable] today.

Christel Marott [1919-1992] made her debut as a professional illustrator at the tender age of 17, and remained a highly sought-after artist for fashion magazines throughout the 20th century, including Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.
