The free tickets may be gone, but if you’re in New York this weekend, love food, and have an extra $250, do yourself a favor: snag a spot at the first ever Great GoogaMooga festival. Brought to you by Superfly Presents, the genius dudes behind Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, the Great GoogaMooga is a two-day celebration in Brooklyn’s beautiful Prospect Park, featuring some of the nation’s top chefs, restaurants, breweries, and vineyards. With over 75 food vendors, 35 brewers, 30 wine makers and 20 live acts, this event is sure to have a giant impact on the idea of festival fare. The Great GoogaMooga may have some amazing music lined up (Hall & Oates, We Barbarians, James Murphy, Holy Ghost!), but the focus is on the food, no soggy pretzels or iffy hot dogs here. Offerings from cult favs such as Roberta’s, Red Rooster, Do or Dine, Momofuku Milk Bar, Russ & Daughters, Craft, The John Dory Oyster Bar, Baohaus and The Spotted Pig will be organized into distinct areas, from Hamageddon (pork) and The Hamburger Experience to The Sweet Circus (desserts) and The Market, where all things artisanal come together.

In addition to all this deliciousness/ musical goodness there will be informative demonstrations (April Bloomfield butchering a whole pig!), a talk by the notorious Anthony Bourdain, a special live edition of the WTF podcast with Marc Maron featuring essayist Chuck Klosterman and what might be the best thing ever: a one hour panel entitled ‘Noshing With’ where food writer Ruth Reichl, funny man Aziz Ansari, DJ James Murphy and America’s coolest chef Dave Chang of Momofuku will hang out and talk about food. That inspired pairing alone is enough to warrant the $250 cost of an ‘Extra Mooga’ ticket, never mind the unlimited food and drink (alcohol included!), access to a special Main Stage viewing area, separate entrance, goodie bag and a one-year subscription to New York Magazine. xx Ashley Churchill
