Is there a better way to end summer than FYF Fest? Probably not! Now in its 9th year, the little festival that could is taking the plunge this weekend and expanding into a two-day affair, complete with buzzed-about headline sets from M83 and recently reunited Swedish hardcore heroes Refused. Held in glorious downtown L.A. at Los Angeles State Historic Park, FYF’s lineup is absolutely insane, and the ticket prices jaw-droppingly low compared to Coachella. For less than $100, you can vibe out with local surf-rockers Allah-Las, try to decipher Kishi Bashi’s adorable Japanese lyrics, worship at the altar of Father John Misty, get weird with Future Islands, learn how to age gracefully from The Vaselines, have your ears blown off by Dinosaur Jr., dance your self clean with Tanlines or Twin Shadow, and get all multi-culti with Beirut. Plus a boatload of more amazing acts. Plus the comedic stylings of David Cross. Plus food trucks. Plus alcohol. Plus being outside. All of these things add up to a blowout weekend you won’t want to miss. See you there! xx Ashley Churchill
