In her stocking feet, iconic American actress Marilyn Monroe was a tiny 5′ 3″, but with the help of Italian shoemaker Salvatore Ferragamo’s heels, she spent most of her time on camera at a comparatively lofty 5′ 7″. Until January 28th, Florence’s Salvatore Ferragamo Museum is honoring the 50th anniversary of the star’s death with ‘Marilyn,’ a lovingly curated collection of photographs, video clips, costumes, and of, course, shoes. Monroe personally owned multiple pairs of Ferragamo pumps, pointy toed and constructed using half wood and half metal for comfort. Black, tan, red sequined, the exact design created for Monroe is still in production and remains a timelessly chic style.
