Hi – I’m back from Montauk with photos and sunburned feet in the pattern of my Havaianas flip-flops…this looks totally rad, believe it. I was out there for the first of the parties that The Ivy are throwing at Sole East this season…but also I was there just because it’s summer…and that’s what you do in the summer if you live in NYC. The party was super cute…and though there have been a few noises about “oh no, now hipsters are going to take over Montauk”…well, it didn’t feel that way at all to me. This party – and Montauk in the summer in general – is all about low-key artistic cool. Since the days of the Rolling Stones hanging out at Andy Warhol’s ramshackle Montauk compound, this has always been the East End hangout for surfers, photographers, edgy models, artists, and young designers…the vibe out there is decidedly more Diane Arbus than Diane von Furstenberg. Beautiful pix… fabulous for us here in Oz as it is now winter-ish, nice escapism. It amazes me how bitter people get about “the rich” (the Animal). Seriously, lucky them and it is hardly their fault they landed trust funds etc… at least they aren’t in pastel lounge suits and straw boaters .. he he – they all look so laid back and dressed down. Loving it.

Ah, I’ve always loved Montauk. We live in London but visit my parents’ summer place on the North Fork & I always love to go to both points. The Hamptons have become very sad.
