It’s Michael, Stylesight’s resident menswear enthusiast. I just returned from the S/S 10 men’s shows in Europe and of course, the real show is always on the streets outside the shows. I’ve noticed more and more each season the increased synergy with the cool gents attending the shows and what’s actually coming down the runways. Without a doubt, the biggest influence for the season was a relaxed way of wearing tailored clothing…super lightweight fabrics, rolled cuffs on pants, tailored shorts, bunched sleeves, and even knits worn in place of shirts and ties.

Cool pictures – One question – what’s going on with the suit jacket’s sleeves being rolled up? Is that a trend we should look out for? Is there a trick to it, are they special jackets? Would you only do that with a cotton jacket, or wool?
Hi Seph – This is certainly a trend in styling that we’ve been seeing for a season or two. It’s really reaching a new level as of late, especially on the S/S 10 runways. It’s easiest to do with an unconstructed jacket with a half lining or no lining. Cotton, linen and any other lightweight fabric is obviously going to work best. I find that it’s similar to rolling up a shirt sleeve. Do a few rolls and then push it up past the elbow. Check out the recent runways to see this all over the place.
