Milan: For his Z Zegna diffusion line, Ermenegildo Zegna, paraded a cast of James Bond villains down the runway clad in slim suits, short-sleeved suit coats paired with pleated shorts, and yes—even a white “mad scientist” jacket. Iridescent sharkskin suiting glowed green, suggesting the after affects of a rouge Cold War experiment gone awry, while the short-sleeved jackets, Bermuda shorts, and Islamo-Indian geometric patterns hinted that Zegna’s mad scientist knows how to remain cool in a slew of post-colonial tropical locales. Round, mirrored sunglasses further added to the sinister scientist feel, while boot-tread brogues and tech-y man-clutch bags looked torn from the mid-century military industrial complex. —Andrew Luecke
