WHAT LIES BENEATH
New York: In his masterful Spring collection, Reed Krakoff used sheers to reveal the inner workings of his garments and elegant foundation pieces. A layer of sheer chiffon or fine mesh was either placed over or pieced into at least one item in every look. While the tops were lovely, the technique looked freshest for boxer shorts, the sleeves of coats, and pants. Color-blocked camisoles and minimalist bras were visible beneath, and contrast seam bindings showed through. In typical Krakoff fashion, the overall effect was a sensual version of minimalism. Tees, tank dresses, polos, and pencil skirts were the building blocks, and Krakoff also introduced a handful of covetable cutaway jackets. Luxurious silver or colorful snakeskin added luxury without pretension, and an on-trend color palette of warm browns and poppy tones kept it ultra-chic. –Sharon Graubard
