THE LADY AND THE CLUB
London: London’s PPQ have been known for their adventurous party-wear, pieces which appeal to their young it-girl clientele and trendy fashion fans around the world. Although they still included quite a few dresses, designers Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker headed in a more ladylike direction for Fall, incorporating a series of demure coatdresses, furs belted at the waist and structured overnight bags. For both dresses and outerwear, a distinctly 40s style prevailed, with off-the-shoulder construction, peplum jackets, pencil skirts and blousy sleeves creating a retro, feminine mood. Despite these experiments in vintage silhouettes, the designers didn’t abandon their flashier customers entirely, providing enough patent leather bodysuits, crystal embellished spandex leggings and platform pumps for many wild nights at the club. —Nina Stotler
