CLASSICS, REINVIGORATED
London: Paul Smith’s longevity has to do with his unique ability to make British classics feel fresh and new season after season. For spring, Smith used piecing to reinvigorate timeless styles. Button-up shirts were slashed horizontally across the center and reattached with fabric in contrasting colors or patterns. There were also contrast panels for pleated midi skirts and color blocked pants and sack dresses. The quintessentially British theme of equestrianism appeared for the last series of looks, which featured stirrup jodhpurs and shrunken hunt coats. As always, the tailoring was flawless, and the elegant jewel tones and sumptuous silks and satins added a luxurious touch. –Joanna Manganaro
