BORROWED FROM THE BOYS
Paris: Sophie Albou sought to create an uncomplicated Women’s collection for Fall, and looked to classic Menswear styles for inspiration. Tailored silhouettes had a jaunty yet relaxed feel — roomy, pleated trousers sat on the hips with casual slouch and double-breasted coats had a touch of added volume. The fabrics are what made things special, and the designer lent a bit of femininity and glamour to the all tomboyishness with a variety of ditsy floral prints and combinations like a shiny sequined tee under a tweed blazer or silk leopard print pants with a chunky sweater. Along with the speckled wools, heavy waxed cottons and quilted surfaces, an autumnal palette punctuated with vivid orange seemed to reference classic English hunting attire. A definite Parisian air was present as well, and took the form of silky pajama sets topped with velvet tuxedo jackets, fancy jeweled belts, sexy lace insets, and a pretty Impressionist print. —Anna Jane Davis
