SEA SONG
Paris: Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti said he “went under the sea” this season. A contradiction of typical oceanic elements like fluidity and transparency, the collection consisted solely of razor-sharp suits and crisp, tailored separates. Skin-revealing slashes and angular, layered panels called to mind gills and fins, and streamlined silhouettes drew from the sleekness of a shark. Softness came from a beachy palette including shades of coral and seafoam, while lustrous silks and slick, coated leathers called to mind pearls and jelly fish. —Anna Jane Davis
