MASS APPEAL
New York: For its latest collection, Moncler Grenoble stacked models along a dramatically tiered, mirrored room, creating a virtual monolith of activewear. This presentation combined with an edited, naturalistic color palette to feel massive, like a granite outcropping in the French Alps. The collection dripped with fur, shiny technical nylons, and various quilting styles. Fur gauntlets and retro-stretch ski pants were show highlights, as were mirrored shield goggles that hid models’ faces from view. This depersonalizing effect further separated the audience from the object of its interest, as if to emphasize the collection’s exclusivity and grandeur. –Andrew Luecke
