PURL GIRLS
New York: Angela Missoni began her Pre-Fall collection with a passage of silvery, angular looks that had a somewhat futuristic feel, but she quickly shifted gears to warmer tones and classic items, such as cropped straight-leg pants, sheaths, turtlenecks, cardigans, and double-breasted jackets. Nearly all of the pieces were made from the label’s signature knits, save for a few coats and a couple pairs of shiny leather pants. Some knits tricked the viewer into believing they were wovens. Stiff lining made them fall differently, and sometimes their color threw one off. In particular, a pair of charcoal grey looks approximated menswear suitings, but upon closer inspection, turned out to be knits. Missoni experimented with transparency in some of the later looks. Sheer panels or completely sheer pieces added a sense of lightness to the diverse collection–Joanna Manganaro
