London: Mary Katrantzou borrowed from international postage stamps and currencies to create the colorful and compelling motifs for her signature digital prints this season. From India to Venezuela to her native Greece, Katrantzou’s prints featured a riotous array of characters and images. The designer kept the shapes simple, allowing the prints to take center stage, but subtle details, including rounded shoulders, kimono sleeves, and shirttail hemlines made it clear that Katrantzou gave equal attention to both print and design. Multi-layered printing techniques and custom jacquards were new for the designer, demonstrating Katrantzou’s commitment to innovation. –Joanna Manganaro
