Paris:
Maison Martin Margiela’s couture collection was comprised almost entirely of reclaimed materials. Slouchy, tailored separates were constructed of embroidered cotton remnants or silk scarves with fringe trim; suits gained embellishment from antique mother of pearl buttons or colorful woven friendship bracelets, and coats were fashioned out of looped ropes or macrame scraps. Although a subversive interpretation on haute couture, Margiela achieved an intricate display of craftsmanship, rich with texture and inspiration.
