London: Louise Gray is arguably the zaniest of the up-and-coming London designers. She is known for her riotous colors, mish-mash of prints, and kooky accessories. This season, she offered all three, but there seemed to be a subtle sense of refinement to the garments that was absent in the past. Cuts were simple and precise, and, if one were able to look past the aggressive styling, there were plenty of wearable items. White button-up shirts with swaths of colorful prints were a particular highlight, and pieced A-line dresses are sure to appeal to Gray’s followers. Though the designer let her quirky tendencies go a bit too far with some pieces (see zig-zag placket jacket and mirror embellished and embroidered geometric-print chartreuse sheath), the relative sense of restraint was a step in the right direction. –Joanna Manganaro
