YOUTHFUL OPTIMISM
Paris: For a designer who never studied fashion, Simon Porte Jacquemus has come a long way. He was just nominated for an ANDAM award, Opening Ceremony recently picked up his line, and he presented his first proper runway show this season. Jacquemus has played with the notion of sport in the past, and he brought the theme up again for spring, using nylon mesh for skirts, sheaths and tops. Attached suspenders, apron dresses and wide stripes gave the collection a youthful appeal, while bright tones of pumpkin orange and lemon yellow added optimism and energy. With this promising collection, it’s clear that Jacquemus’s momentum is continuing to build. It will be interesting to watch this young talent develop. –Joanna Manganaro
