CASUAL + COOL
Paris: In the first Issey Miyake collection since designer Dai Fujiwara’s departure, looks were casual and unfussy while still employing the innovative materials, prints and construction techniques for which the label is known. Suiting was cut from linens and seersuckers, while relaxed woven tops and outerwear came in lightweight, crinkly cottons. Screen-printed stripes and bleeding blocks of color felt somewhat tribal, as did pant silhouettes, which ranged from gauchos and harems to voluminous lounge styles with drawstring-cinched ankles. A color palette largely comprised of serene blues and gentle neutrals suited the collection’s laid-back vibe. -Whitney Kessler
