OCTOPUS’S GARDEN PARTY
London: Jeremy Hackett (who writes a blog called “Mr. Classic”) and Ashley Lloyd-Jennings presented a collection determined to pay homage to London’s tailoring tradition, while highlighting its more colorful offshoots — especially American collegiate prep and Swinging London’s Mod dandy updates. The show opened and closed with classic Savile Row-style three-pieces suits, underscored by anachronistic details and accessories like ticket pockets, cropped waistcoats, club collars, and bowler hats. The middle of the show saw a kaleidoscope of electric cobalt pinstriped suits and boating blazers worn with floral scarves inspired by Rolling Stones manager and producer Andrew Loog Oldham, all offset by colorful collegiate Americana via madras blazers and trousers, pastel chinos, and sporty polo shirts. —Andrew Luecke
