UP CLOSE AND PRINTED
London: German twin sisters Annette & Daniela Felder took a new interest in prints for their S/S 13 collection, particularly the type which require a second look. Moving away from their usual tough leather-heavy mainstays, the designers worked almost exclusively in a lightweight chiffon for flirtatious a-line minis and semi-sheer dresses, many covered in a pattern which seemingly mimicked leopard spots but actually depicted colorful silhouetted faces. Butterfly patterns were also subtle with their wings layered in tones of chambray blue and navy. Solid separates were less successful, many suffering from an awkward fit and draping as an afterthought, but these oversights were few among the dimensional print experiments. —Nina Stotler
