BOHO INNOCENT
Milan: Playful and light, Fall at Emilio Pucci was pure Marianne Faithfull sweet bohemian, absent the darker elements of the Woodstock era and concentrating on the pastel optimism of a carefree romantic. Sheer swiss dot lace blouses with bow ties became demure when covered up by fluffy, voluminous furs in candied shades of mint or baby pink and even ruffle hem miniskirts didn’t show much skin paired with thigh-high suede boots. Stretchy long sleeved dresses were as body conscious as ever, but due to their turtlenecks and graphic mosaic prints the focus wasn’t on the tight fit. As an alternative to traditional fur jackets, swingy a-line capes looked new for Pucci, especially in an intarsia knit, while nighttime gear stuck close to house codes via strategic cutouts and risqué hemlines, some pieces complete with bib fronts more “little girl lost” than confident free spirit.—Nina Stotler
