New York: This season Doo-Ri Chung was inspired by the movement of Japanese Butoh dance, and presented a quietly elegant collection of fluid looks. In addition to her signature drapery, the designer showcased spare tailored separates and cozy sweaters. High, wrapped necks felt modern for knit tops and slinky dresses, while outerwear and jackets with simple, straight lines balanced all the softness. A ballet palette of pale pink-cast grey, ivory and black gained interest from a medley of textures — fuzzy yarns, lustrous silks and geometric laser-cutting. Opaque black tights and knit headbands helped to evoke the look of a dancer heading home post-performance. —Anna Jane Davis
