AN EASIER APPROACH
New York: Having recently realized that customers tend to purchase his “easier” items, Damir Doma offered simplified looks for Pre-Fall. The elegant draping, exaggerated proportions, and asymmetrical silhouettes of his other collections were present here, but the overall feel was cleaner and more approachable. The sleeves of sweaters and jackets were widened and rounded, with bonded and double-faced fabrics facilitating these directional shapes. Other sweaters featured geometric or snakeskin patterns. Handkerchief hemlines provided skirts and tops with a sense of movement. Fluid silks that were draped and tied offered an appealing counterbalance to the more rigid materials. Though the collection may have been comparatively easier, it still contained the challenging concepts that have garnered Doma a loyal following and plenty of critical acclaim. –Joanna Manganaro
