COLOR AND SHAPE
New York: Last night at Milk Studios, Carlos Campos delivered a solid collection of simple, if inventive, garments where the emphasis was on his hallmark use of color and silhouette. Campos struck a near perfect balance, offsetting bright wines, midnight blues and olive greens—or vino, azul oscuro and verde in his words—with perfect tailoring and clean lines. Though there was no lack of details, like ticket pockets or shawl collars on a wine-colored tux jacket, every look was spare. A dearth of accessories kept the emphasis firmly on the clothing, while Campos used a clever bicycle graphic to adorn sweaters and dress shirts with a hint of humor. Ultimately, the collection was an excellent reminder of why Campos’ ability to blend audacious color and pattern with a spare silhouette has his career on the rise. –Andrew Luecke
