SERENE COMFORT
New York: Serene comfort summed up Albert Kriemler’s Pre-Fall collection for Akris, a cozy parade of soft outerwear and sophisticated but minimal separates. The designer imagined a wardrobe for easy, no-fuss travel, the type of languid trip his customer might make by train. With such a scenic view in mind, Kriemler printed landscapes on many of his items, from slim knit turtlenecks to silk shift dresses and double faced wool trench coats. The softness of these images also informed the textures in the collection, resulting in velvet trousers, cashmere blanket capes and simple mink jackets, all executed in a dreamy, warm palette of cream, pumpkin and grey. Work-appropriate daytime pieces were the focus for Pre-Fall, but a few dramatic evening options were included too, such as a sweeping bubble hemmed cape dress, a feminine grey lace sheath and an alluring slashed bodice LBD.—Nina Stotler
