We love… Port Eliot festival

Fresh-faced and with a spring in her step, our Senior London Correspondent Anna Jacobsen shares with us her personal highlights from this year’s literary and arts festival, Port Eliot.

The festival, held annually in St Germans in Cornwall, is now in its 9th year. Port Eliot’s program was recently extended to include music, performance, ideas, cinema, fashion design workshops and a flower show, appealing to “younger audiences, and others who might never have considered coming to a literary festival before.”

Anna particularly enjoyed the fashion making tents, also known as the Wardrobe Department, and the bespoke “flower headpieces made by the Flower Appreciation Society.”

Other treats throughout the weekend included the mouthwatering array of food on offer, a tea party for fashion dolls, and a host of talks in the Idler Academy tent, including a slot with restaurateur Tom Conan, who explained the fascinating history of Mexico’s most famous elixir, tequila.  Mary Katrantzou also spoke with Love magazine’s Editor, Alex Fury, about her design life, while also showing a collection of dresses inspired by a recent visit to Port Eliot house.

The festival has now finished, but will return to the picturesque St Germans in 2013.  You can see more from this year’s sun-filled, literary extravaganza here. – Samantha Fox
