The film, A Modern Day City Symphony, will eventually be screened at the Tanks in London (the Tate Modern’s new space for live and performance art), as part of the Undercurrent festival program and The Tanks: Art in Action series.
Paved With Gold will comprise “day in the life” style montages of London through the eyes of the city’s youth, using film clips, soundscapes and musical samples that have been selected by NTS. In addition, screenings will run alongside live music performances from the wonderful Slime, Vondelpark, My Panda Shall Fly, RPBLC of Many Voices and James Massiah.
ISYS explains further:
“At a moment when all eyes are on London, the soundtracked documentary film examines the use of style and culture as tools for identification and belonging among British Youth today, and takes the viewer on a journey through the young heart of the city to depict a slice of London life otherwise unseen.”
Screenings will take place on August 24th from 7pm – 9.30pm. You can see more from the project, with links to the Tate’s Undercurrent festival program, on their website. – Samantha Fox
