As huge Olympic fans, the Children’s Team has been following all the rumors flying about tonight’s Opening Ceremony, along with taking a look at some patriotic pieces for the Summer Games. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite kid-related rumors surrounding tonight’s ceremony.
We hear that Voldemort, the force of evil in Harry Potter (penned by English author J.K. Rowling), will be dueling with an army of Mary Poppins-inspired flying nannies. Rupert Grint, the actor who played Ron Weasley in the films, has already taken part in the historic event, carrying the Torch. Other literary references include a supposed play on Shakespeare during the Opening Ceremony while a scaled down version of a traditional English village is filled with various farmyard animals including 70 sheep, 12 horses, 10 chickens and three sheep dogs. James Bond (played by Daniel Craig) is rumored to make an appearance alongside the Queen in a short film.
