São Paulo: The Brazilian glitterati, not to mention a few international supermodels, were out in full force last night in support of swimwear designer Adriana Degreas as she presented her tropical-themed S/S 12 collection. The label’s ladylike sensibilities shone in flattering high-waisted briefs, underwire tops and wispy blouse cover-ups. Degreas showed innovation in angular silhouettes for bikini tops and long and languid forms for caftans. Like much of the Brazilian collections, color and print were a highlight: jungle green leaf prints were balanced by an appealing sun-kissed ochre, Art Deco geos made a dramatic statement on billowy pieces and illustrations of indigenous island people gave the tropical theme a compelling historical dimension.
