This Saturday, Nike Basketball pays homage to streetball legend John Strickland with the Air Force I ‘Strick’ release. A traditional gum sole contrasts a white leather upper featuring his mantra “Finish Your Breakfast”, made famous through Jay-Z’s tribute verse on the Black Album. Strickland was a fantastic showman on the New York City courts, coaching and playing until his untimely passing last October. His reach far extended NYC streets, which Nike recognized with a thorough tribute, including a stamp of Strickland’s nickname “Franchise” on the quarter panel.
