On Tuesday evening, our menswear team checked out the unveiling of the new Todd Snyder tailor shop at Odin. The first shop-in-shop of sorts dedicated to the designer’s tailored pieces (in collaboration with traditional American manufacturer Southwick) is the perfect addition to Eddy Chai and Paul Birardi’s menswear emporium, rounding out their stock of Snyder’s rough-meets-refined sportswear.
Says the designer, one of GQ’s 2012 Best New Menswear Designers, about the opportunity: “I thought it would be great to mix things up. We sell our sportswear to Odin and thought it would be cool to mix our tailoring in my favorite downtown store. This tailor shop gives us the opportunity to showcase a suit in a casual way.”
The evolution of Snyder’s brand into the tailored category is a natural fit, as Todd himself worked in a tailor’s shop in college. He’s teamed up with American masters Southwick to produce his suiting and ties, using their expertise in tailored clothing but still working with the company to develop his signature silhouette that breaks down traditional constructions (read: more natural shoulders). Up for grabs is a selection perfect for any guy’s summer social calendar, from three suits in lightweight wool, cotton, and a cotton/linen blend, plus a tux that’s the complete opposite of “stuffy.” All the suiting is unlined to keep you cool as things heat up in the coming months, and the special installation is only up until the end of June or until things sell out.
The Todd Snyder Tailored Shop is located at Odin’s Soho flagship store, located at 199 Lafayette Street in NYC.
