Last weekend, Stylesight editors had the privilege to attend CREATE and CULTIVATE, a 2-day event put on by (No Subject) LA and Foam magazine at Ruschmeyer’s hotel of Montauk, NY with the objective to inspire bloggers and digital influencers to embrace the low-tech and the hands-on. The experience was purposely different for those involved, as most hailed from the digital world.
Participants attended workshops hosted by top bloggers and craftsmen; the folks at I-Spy DIY taught a course on creating tribal-inspired accessories, while custom snap-back hats were made with HeartyMag, a lesson on brightly-colored fabric key-chains came courtesy of Holst & Lee, and attendees explored the art of stenciling with Brooklyn’s Stencil 1. Jane Marie of The Hairpin blog introduced the “5 Steps to Madness,” which detailed how to achieve iconic, however enigmatic, bombshell beauty looks of the mid-60s.
Stuff was made, lessons were learned, networks were created, food was eaten and cocktails were consumed – we conclude that the girls of (No Subject) LA were successful in their attempt to inspire the digital world via DIY.
Look out for a full report on the event that will be launching on our site soon, and tune in to a recap from new fashion and beauty broadcast channel The Stylish.
