Makeup

“It’s a bright fuchsia lip where life is the pary. It’s not party makeup, this is a pink that makes you win in life. There’s pink in the DVF collection that we tried to match as close to possible. So, its a color called Process Magenta which is a lip pencil, Oyster is the highlighter on the cheekbones and Rustic Red goes in the crease, just a little bit, to give some tone to the eyelid, a little depth, a bit of a 70s feeling. That reddish color for the eye reminds me of Indian earth from the 70s and Yves Saint Laurent, and fashion shows, and Diane is so much about that. There’s Haute and Naughty Lash mascara on top, a  little bit of strengthening the eyebrow with Omega, which is an eyeshadow dusted into the eyebrows so its a smoky eyebrow. I prefer that to a liner in the brow, it just strengthens and gives the girls a little intensity. The lip is not super matte. For foundation, we used two – one matching the skin tone and N7 to contour with. It’s a sheer way of contouring without using powder so it keeps the skin very natural looking… and that’s it.” – James Kaliardos

Hair

“It’s kind of messy and undone. There’s a glam rock feeling in the collection but I’m inspired by Diane herself, just waves and glamour. We’re going to keep the girls very “them” within in this style. For example, there’s a girl with a pixie cut so we’re keeping her like that, there’s another girl with short curly hair so we’re making it more curly. Diane is about empowering women and not about making them look like anybody else so she wanted it to be varied.” – Orlando Pita

Nails

“We’re doing a buff nail, ashiny top coat. It’s super modern, super moisturized nails, which can be hard to achieve but luckily Essie has a great care line so we’re using lots of their Apricot Cuticle Oil and lots of their hand cream. We’ve cleaned up the nails and cuticles. We’re adding Essie’s clear, Good To Go top coat and finishing with cuticle oil. The hands are going to be the cleanest, freshest manicure in all of Fashion Week.

But for toes we’re doing quite the opposite. We’re doing a super bright-as-you-can-get, hot pink  to go with the lipstick and the bright pink in the collection. We’re mixing two colros; the base is Plum Berry (a deeper pink) and on top we’re putting Miami Nice (a really bright pink). We had to layer two colors because at the nail test with Diane and her stylists, I showed them two colors and they said the pink they wanted was actually between the two colors. One was too bright, one was too dark, but what worked out was mixing them.” – Michelle Saunders
