SUBDUED GLAMOUR
Milan: John Richmond is a fan of all things gilded, embellished, short, and tight, but this season, he surprised his followers with a relatively subdued collection. Like Prada before him, Richmond opened his show with grey flannel. White tape highlighted the coat’s clean lines, and the same tape also decorated the tailored skirt suit and slim pants that followed. The uncomplicated tailored pieces appeared throughout the show, though Richmond also included plenty of the more seductive fare that his clients crave. Short leather skirts, body-con dresses, and fur chubbies captured the label’s typical sexy vibe. Richmond added a darker element with a mirror-image floral that featured the disfigured face of a geisha. Though a few of his evening gowns had the same pared-down vibe of the opening looks, Richmond ended his show with three skinny mini-dresses with allover embellishments that were glamorous with a capital G. –Joanna Manganaro
