The Stylesight Accessories team recently attended the JA New York trade show, held at the Jarvits Center in the city, and were pleased to note that a number of trends forecast for the season were confirmed by the brands showing their new 2012 collections.
Over 550 international brands exhibited during this 3 day show, where we were witness to a return to feminine pastel-toned stones, the importance of the earring growing to “must-have” status, and the evolution of organic crystal into ethereal stone embellishments being prevalent across collections.
Lavender amethyst, pale blue, sapphires and soft pink and yellow diamonds pervaded classic settings and investment items including cocktail rings and pendant earrings. Pear, round and rose cut gems retain the prim, ladylike air of these color-ways for fine jewelry for this season and beyond.
The trend for organic crystal quartz embellishments evolves this season to create an more ethereal mood. Collections incorporate a range of opal and labradorite stones into simple, classic settings in an expansion of this transcendental look. Fleeting colors and opaque textures are harnessed in traditional faceted cuts with miniature diamond surrounds.
In-line with our trend analysis for this season earrings proved to be a key item throughout the show. Opulent chandelier and pendant designs dominated collections, in mixed rose, yellow and black gold metals. Diamond pavé settings complement delicate filigrée styles, while organic crystal and semi-precious cabochons are used in bold, chunky arrangements. On the whole new earrings take on oversized proportions, at times grazing the shoulders, becoming the intricate highlight jewelry item for Fall ensembles.
The next edition of JA New York will be held at the Jarvits Centre from the 29th – 31st of July 2012.
